Overnight Reservations Required Before Arrival   

Camping and cabin reservations are REQUIRED before arrival. There are no walk-up reservations. Visitors must book reservations online and arrive before 8:00 p.m. on the day of reservation. Campers may go directly to their campsite after 4:00 pm on day of arrival and must vacate site before 3:00 pm on their last day. Cabin check-in is after 4:00 pm and check-out is required before 10:00 am.

2022 Construction Affecting Reservations   

Major construction projects are tentatively scheduled to start in the park on March 1, 2022. This construction will require closures of the family campground loops, family cabins and Picnic Shelter A on top of Morrow Mountain. The group campground, primitive campground, community building, Picnic shelter B, and Picnic Shelter C will be available for reservations.

Updated Boathouse Hours   

The Boathouse operating hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 10a.m. - 5:30p.m. Boat rentals END at 4:30p.m. Boat rentals are at $10 per hour, $25 for half-day, or $45 for full-day. It is encouraged to bring your own life-jackets as long as they are US Coast Guard approved, in good condition, properly fitting and worn at all times while on the rental boats. The risk of contracting COVID from exposed surfaces is greatly reduced after 72 hours. When renting life jackets, boats, and paddles within 72 hours of previous use, you are at a greater risk of contracting COVID.

Additional information

There are no entrance fees to enjoy the park. In addition to park-specific rules, please read the systemwide Park Rules for all North Carolina State Parks.

Boating

No picnicking, fishing or sunbathing is allowed on the boat dock.

$7 per hour

Permits

Event permits. Some events—such as weddings, athletic contests, company parties, etc.—may require a Special Activity Permit. If you're unsure whether such a permit is necessary for your event, call the park office beforehand. You can download a Special Activity Permit application or obtain one from the park office.

Research and collection permits. A permit is required for any project involving the collection, removal or disturbance of any natural or cultural resource of any state park unit and for projects that require placing monitoring equipment in any state park unit. Learn more about research and collection permits or fill out a permit application online.

 

A $25 fee will be charged for all returned checks.
