Come burn you turkey off on a Lassiter Trail hike. Meet the Park Ranger at the picnic area. Lassiter trail is a 5 mile loop. Do to the length it will be shortened to about 45 minutes out and 45 minutes back. Enjoy the fall foliage.
Events and Programs
Merchants Millpond State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.
Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.
Its cold, the leaves have left, now its time to get out on the water and canoe the pond. Come join a Park Ranger as we canoe the millpond in December and we will try to find 12 ducks a flying, 11 geese a honking, 10 canoers shivering, 9 buoys floating, 8 squirrels a playing, 7 trees with color, 6 logs a crossing, 5 birds a chirping, 4 beavers swimming, 3 owls a hooting, 2 turtles basking, and 1 good time a paddling. Start your year off on the right foot! Join a park ranger for our annual First Day Hike. We will hike approxamatly 2miles along Bennetts Creek Trail. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes for the hike. For more information call the Visitor Center at (252)357-1191.
