New Campground Hosts Arrive

Park staff are pleased to welcome Pierce and Karen as new campground hosts in the family campground. They are from New Bern, North Carolina and have previously been camp hosts at Flanners Beach and the Croatan National Forest. Before he retired, Pierce owned and operated a subcontracting trucking company that moved high security items for the federal government.  “We are glad to be here and help out the park in any way possible,” Pierce said.  Campground hosts are volunteers that camp in the family campground and assist campers as needed. At Medoc Mountain, campground hosts are here to register new campers, sell firewood, answer questions, and be available to assist campers during the overnight hours. If you are planning an overnight trip this summer and will be staying in the family campground, you can expect Pierce and Karen to stop by and welcome you to the park.
