Little Fishing Creek Volunteer Work Day

Our first Little Fishing Creek Volunteer Work Day was so successful that we're going to do it again, clearing even further downstream!  Our goal for this work day is to have staff and volunteers manually clear the obstructions (vines, branches, trees, root balls, etc.) from the creek and its banks, and to widen the channel of the creek.  As you can see, there is a lot of debris (large and small) and this congestion clogs the waterway during major rain events and slows the flow of water.  With many hands to help, this work day will allow us to physically remove these obstructions and clear our creek.  Come out to the park and join staff and other volunteers as we provide the man-power to assist in the debris removal.  Please wear closed-toed shoes for safety and prepare to get in the water, or at least to get wet.  Also bring water and snacks to eat.  Call the park office (252-586-6588) and let us know you're coming so we'll know how many to expect.  We look forward to seeing you on the 16th!
