National Public Lands Day

Lumber River State Park is performing a volunteer work project. We will be National Public Lands Day. We will be meeting at Chalk Banks Access Area. The event will begin at 10:00 am and tentatively end at 1:00 pm depending on weather and volunteer attendance. Volunteers will walk down a historic road, which General Sherman used during the American Civil War, and pick up trash debris in order to help preserve the natural beauty of this area. Volunteers are encouraged to take necessary precautions and wear proper hiking attire, bring plenty of water and bug spray. Also, a courtesy phone call the Park office at 910-628-4564 to inform the organizers of your attendance would be greatly appreciated. This project will be very enjoyable for both park staff and volunteers as participants will not only help make the park look even more beautiful but also be able to enjoy the park's natural and cultural resources in the process.
