Closures due to flooding   

Due to flooding that has occured from recent rainfall the following are closed until the river level recedes.  

-Chalk Banks Canoe-In Campsite
-Naked Landing and Mill Hole Trail at Princess Ann
-Campsites 7 and 8 at Princess Ann (PA7/PA8)

Park staff will monitor levels and once these areas are safe to enter they will be reopened to the public. Please make contact with any questions or concerns.

Status of park facilities as of May 22   

As of May 22, campsites are open at Lumber River State Park, with the exception of group campsites. Reservations must be made online or by calling 1-877-722-6762.

Trails, boat ramps, and restrooms are open. Operating hours are 8:00am to 8:00pm until further notice.

When visiting, please follow social distancing guidelines, regardless of the behavior of others. Please try to stay 6 feet away from other visitors and park staff or wear a mask or face covering. Try to touch as few surfaces as possible and do not enter areas that have been closed off. Wash or sanitize your hands before, during, and after your visit, and stay home if you are sick.

Area information

The Lumber River State Park headquarters at Princess Ann, near Orrum, is located in Robeson County, 12 miles east of Fairmont off NC 130 and six miles south of Orrum. The park's northern headquarters at Chalk Banks is located in Scotland County, 1/3 mile north of Wagram on Hwy 401, 11 miles north of Laurinburg.

 

Directions to Princess Ann Access

To travel to Princess Ann take S.R. 2225 (Creek Rd.) south to S.R. 2246 (Princess Ann Rd.) east. Continue two miles to the park entrance. From I-95, take Exit 13 onto US 74 East and travel approximately 13 miles. Turn right (south) onto S.R. 2225 (Creek Rd.), near Milepost 221, and travel seven miles to S.R. 2246 east. Turn left (east) on S.R. 2246 (Princess Ann Rd.) and travel two miles to the park entrance on the left.

Directions to Chalk Banks Access

To travel to Chalk Banks from US 74, take Hwy 401 North By Pass at Laurinburg. Travel Hwy 401 ten miles to Wagram. Travel 1/3 mile north of Wagram to park entrance on the left. From Fayetteville, travel Hwy 401 South. Cross the Lumber River into Scotland County, near Wagram. Park entrance is on the right, 1/4 after crossing the river.
