New pedestrian bridge over Lake Waccamaw Dam

A pedestrian bridge over 300 feet long that crosses the dam at Lake Waccamaw is now complete. An accessible fishing platform is part of the new bridge.

The bridge will enable hikers and cyclists to access the Lake Shore Trail from the southwest end of the park and allow visitors to travel around the whole lake for a 14-mile trip. Currently, there is a 1.8-mile section where bicyclists must walk their bikes.

We hope to provide a path that will allow bicycles traverse the entire trail in the future.
