Lake Waccamaw State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful. ​

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.

 

"The Snakes of North Carolina" Have you ever wanted to learn about snakes in our area? The presentation will give an introduction to snakes and how many are estimated in the USA, and NC. Participants will also learn about the 37 species of native snakes to NC and the differences between them. Such differences include egg layers vs. live births and venomous vs. nonvenomous. Also snake safety and identification tips will also be discussed along with interesting myths about our scaly friends.
