Current Status of Park Facilities   

The Visitor Center is open from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday and  Saturday, Sunday & holidays 9am-6pm

The Visitor Center, restrooms, Lake Shore trail, and most reservable facilities are currently open. 
Bike trails are open weather permitting.

Please continue to follow social distancing guidelines throughout the park, regardless of the behavior of others.

Lake Shore Trail

The Lake Shore Trail at Lake Norman State Park

The Lake Shore Trail is a beautiful, scenic footpath along the lake shore. It is designed to accommodate an array of fitness levels as it has shortcuts (3 miles round trip) and extensions (6.3 miles round trip). Voted by Charlotte a must see trail - it is sure to impress.

The Lake Norman State Park TRACK Trail adventures were designed for use on the Lakeshore Trail and the Short Turn Trail.

  • From the intersection of Old Mountain Road and East Monbo Road in the Troutman area, travel south approximately 4.3 miles on East Monbo Road to St. Johns Road. Turn left onto St. Johns Road and go 0.5. mile to State Park Road. Follow the signs for the campgrounds.

  • Canoes, pedal boats, kayaks, and paddleboards are available for rent daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The boats are rented on a first-come, first-served basis and we are not able to reserve them.
