  • 24-hour access to campground and boat launch is available through the entrance on St. Johns Road.

  • 24-hour access to campground is available through the St. Johns Road access.
  • From the intersection of Old Mountain Road and East Monbo Road in the Troutman area, travel south approximately 4.3 miles on East Monbo Road to St. Johns Road. Turn left onto St. Johns Road and go 0.5. mile to State Park Road. Follow the signs for the campgrounds.


  • Canoes, pedal boats, kayaks, and paddleboards are available for rent daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The boats are rented on a first-come, first-served basis and we are not able to reserve them.

Paddle with a Ranger

Join a Ranger for a paddle on our 33 acre Park Lake! Come out and enjoy a calm canoe/kayak trip where we will discuss the history of Lake Norman State Park while exploring the various plant and animal species that call park lake home. The paddle will begin at 2:00 PM behind the Visitors Center. Boats and equipment can be provided if needed. Limit of 10 people. Call the Visitor's Center to reserve your spot.
