Boat ramps   

Please use extreme caution when using the boat ramps at Jordan Lake State Recreation Area as the lake levels are low and can create hazards while loading and unloading water craft.

Winter campground    

Parker's Creek campground is the campground open for the winter months.   Loops 1 & 2 are reservations only and loop 4 is a first come first serve loop.

Events and Programs

Jordan Lake State Recreation Area offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful. ​

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.

 

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE, start time changed from 10 to 11:45
Come on out and Join a Park Ranger at the Bald Eagle Observation Deck. Learn about the bald eagles of Jordan Lake and let’s see what other birds we can spot and identify!!!  The deck is located off of Martha’s Chapel Road approx. ¼ mile from Ferrington Road.  Look for the binocular sign and park in the gravel parking lot.  Please come prepared for the weather.  The deck is usually 5-10 degrees cooler then the parking area. If rain, program will be canceled.  A spotting scope will be available and if you have binoculars please bring them.  For further information, contact Ranger Steve McMurray at 919-362-0586 ext 219 or at steve.mcmurray@ncparks.gov

Winter Surprises at Jordan Lake! Some birds are only seen at Jordan Lake in the winter.  Doc Ellen will talk about the Jordan Lake Bald Eagles and the winter migratory birds that join them each year. Come discover that winter is a great time to go birding at Jordan Lake. Rain or Shine, program will be held inside the visitor center.

Take an informal tour of the constellations with MPSC educators: telescopic views of beautiful objects, including planets, nebulae, star clusters and, of course, the Moon when available.  Location: Ebenezer Beach, gates will remain open till the end of the activity.   Please check the weather on day of event if cloudy the event will be cancelled. Monthly sky watching sessions are free and open to the public!  Check the "News" listing at the home page of www.moreheadplanetarium.org or call Guest Relations at (919) 962-1236 on the day of the sky watching session to be sure weather conditions will permit us to host this outdoor activity. The event is hosted by the staff from Morehead Planetarium.  If using GPS: 558 Beaver Creek Road, Apex NC 27502.  Observing the Geminid Meteor shower.

Jordan Lake's day use area gates and campground gate open and lock promptly at posted times. No entry or exit is permitted before or after posted gate hours except for law enforcement or medical emergencies.
