Summer Camp Information

Come to Haw River State Park for summer fun and adventure! The Summit Environmental Education Staff at Haw River lead participants in many amazing park adventures. Each week has a theme on which programming will focus. The Day Camps are for children who will be rising 2nd-5th graders. We offer Haw River Adventure Camp for 6th-8th graders. Our Grand Camps are for grandparents who would like to come to summer camp with a grandchild or two, or for children who would like to bring their grandparents to camp. These are our only residential camps.

Summer Day Camp Daily Schedule:
8:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. Early Arrivals
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Programmed Activities
4 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Extended Hours

Participants will be asked to bring a bag lunch/water bottle each day. Water will be available to the students at lunch and for the breaks. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided. Please be sure to inform us concerning any dietary needs, such as food allergies upon registration.

Grand Camp Information

This two-night, three-day camp will be for rising 2nd – 8th graders and their special grandparent(s). Some of the special activities include fun games for all ages, family projects, easy to moderate hiking, fishing, canoeing, and campfire fun! Daily activities will include pool time, art focus and restful free-time. All moderately strenuous activities will have an alternative program option. The overnight accommodation is a motel-style room.

Registration Information

Registration will begin by mail February 1st. Download:

Medical Form 
Grand Camp Registration Form
Grand Camp Medical Form 
and send it in by mail. A $40 non-refundable deposit will be due upon registration to secure a space for each participant.

Nov - Feb:  8am - 6pm
March, April, May, Sept and Oct: 8am - 8pm
June - August: 8am - 9pm
