Educational programs
The Summit Environmental Education Center is an outdoor environmental education center specializing in day programs and overnight field trips for groups of all ages. The Environmental Education program provides a variety of courses and innovative activities for youth and adult groups of all sizes. All courses are correlated to the NC Essential Standards 2009, and include environmental education topics, NC cultural studies, outdoor education and teambuilding. These wide-ranging courses are designed to enhance and supplement classroom curriculum, as well as foster a respect for nature. The Summit Environmental Education Program is committed to immersing students in an engaging, informative, entertaining and inspiring curriculum.

Nature has provided a fine outdoor facility, which includes the Haw River headwaters, lush vegetation, wetlands, rolling hills, pine and hardwood forest, wildflowers and abundant animal life.
- 6-acre lake

- Expansive boardwalk that meanders through the wetlands and the Haw River
- Multiple fire-rings
- 2 amphitheaters with seating for up to 90.
- A challenging nine-hole frisbee golf course

Consider the length of your program, the dates and the courses you are interested in and call the education office at (336) 342-6181.
Book in advance
Field trips are booked on a first-come, first-served basis so make your reservations well in advance. One-year advance booking is available.
Note: Our cabin capacity is 90 people.
Read, sign and return the contract & deposit
We will send out a contract to be signed and mailed back to SEEC after you or your group's representative calls and requests to be placed on the reservations calendar. A 10% deposit is due two weeks prior to your arrival date.
Write or email us if attendance numbers change
Additions to your reservation numbers may be possible. Call us close to the time of your trip to see if we can accommodate any students who are on your waiting list.
Cancellations
Your 10 percent deposit is not refundable in the event of cancellation.
Half day

Full day

- 2 to 4 adventures

Overnight excursion
- 10:30am arrival on day 1
- 3 meals: lunch and dinner on day 1; breakfast on day 2

Each participant, with 1:00pm departure on day 2: $77
3-day, 2-night excursion
- 10:30am arrival on day 1

- 6 adventures
- Evening programming (1-2 nights)

- Lodging in the Treehouse Train (Cabins)
Each participant, with 10:30am departure on day 3: $110

All day-groups receive:
- 1 FREE Chaperone per every 10 students. (Each additional chaperone is full price.)
- Flexible scheduling, customized programming
- An instructor-to-student ratio no more than 1:15 (usually at 1:12)
All overnight groups receive:
- 1 FREE Chaperone per every 8 students. (Each additional chaperone is full price.)

Additional Information:
- SEEC can provide overnight programming for 15 to 130 participants.
- The Treehouse Train sleeps up to 90. Cottage motel accommodations sleep up to 100.
