Join a Park Ranger for a short, informative hike from the Visitor Center to the Lake Bath House. We'll discuss the history of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the park and see first-hand impacts of their important work. Pictures and artifacts will be on-hand as well. Approximate length of program is 45 minutes. In case of inclement weather, program will be held in the Visitor Center Auditorium.

Hanging Rock State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.
Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.
Join a Ranger for an interactive hike and presentation on our hemlock trees and the Hemlock Woolly Adelgid. We'll talk about trees in general, hemlocks more specifically, and the insect adversary that is affecting our hemlock population.
Join a Ranger for a short hike and a program on animals in and around Hanging Rock State Park. We'll discuss the adaptations that help them survive and thrive in the wild. Pictures and animal skins and skulls will be used during the program. Meet in front of the Visitor Center and we'll hike toward Upper Cascades. In case of inclement weather, program will take place in the Visitor Center auditorium.

Camping and cabin guests must arrive prior to the closing hour, after which the park gate is closed for the night.
The park is closed Christmas Day.
