Events and Programs

Hanging Rock State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.

Meet with a Ranger for this guided hike at the Hanging Rock State Park Bathhouse, where there will be a quick park background and safety discussion prior to starting the hike.  We will hike to House Rock and Wolf Rock to enjoy rock formations and panoramic views of other peaks in the Sauratown Mountain Range as well the Piedmont country side.  The Ranger will be available to take hikers on additional hike to hanging rock after this hike is completed.
Please bring plenty of water, snacks or a lunch for afterwards.  Wear shoes appropriate for slick surfaces and rocky terrain.  Pack or wear clothes that will keep you warm and dry.  Be prepared for changing weather conditions and walking up hill. Distance: Approximately 4 miles.
