A ranger will have a table set up at the Visitor Center from 2:00 - 2:45 displaying the skins and skulls of some of Hanging Rock's furry (and slithery) native denizens. Stop by to talk and have a look!

The seasonal wildlife closure of Moore's Wall's North End is now in effect, due to peregrine falcon monitoring and potential activity. The closure will run through 08/31/2019, but may open earlier depending on peregrine activity. Climbing, bouldering, and hiking by park visitors beyond the North End trail point along the Moore's Wall access will be prohibited during the closure.

The campground wash houses are closed for the winter months. A pit toilet and water spigot are centrally located in the family campground.

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.
Be your own champion as you run or hike to the 5 big peaks in Hanging Rock State Park. This is a challenging (but do-able by anyone with proper training and attitude) 10 plus mile outdoor adventure that showcases the natural beauty of one of the best state parks in North Carolina. All proceeds benefit Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain State Parks. Registration is $30 and opens on January 1, 2019. Camping and cabin guests must arrive prior to the closing hour, after which the park gate is closed for the night.
The park is closed Christmas Day.
