Due to the staff shortage caused by employees returning to school, the lake swimming and boating area at Hanging Rock State Park will be closed on August 21-23 and August 29 - September 1. Otherwise, the area will remain open daily until Labor Day Monday, September 4.
Partial swimming area closures and / or diving platform closures may be implemented other weekdays in late August due to the shortage, but we will attempt to make any such interruptions as brief as possible. Please contact the park for more information.Posted on: Friday, August 18, 2017 - 4:53pm
IMPORTANT: Not all campsites have identical amenities. Read the campsite information on the reservations website to preview photos of campsites; check availability and fees; and find out whether a specific site is handicap accessible; has access to water, showers, or restrooms; has electric hookup; and other important information.
Tent and Trailer Camping
The tent and trailer campgrounds offer two one-way loops that lead to 73 campsites. One site is wheelchair accessible. Each campsite has a picnic table, grill and tent pad accommodating up to six people and two tents. Drinking water and bathhouses with utility sinks and hot showers are nearby. The bathhouses are closed December 1 – March 15 when a pit toilet is available. Sites not reserved are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Recreational vehicle hookups and dump stations are not provided.
Five campsites located near the entry gate offer a primitive, wilderness camping experience for groups of six to 16. Each group site has picnic tables and a fire circle. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are nearby. Reservations are required.
Cabins are available year round except December 24 and 25. Reservations are required. Each has a bathroom, living room, kitchen with dining space and two bedrooms. Each accommodates up to six people. You must bring your own linens.
Smoking is not permitted in the cabins. Two of the cabins are ADA accessible. Animals are not allowed in the cabins or cabin area with the exception of service animals.
