Bear Activity   

Please use safe practices if you see a black bear while hiking.  
Safe practices are:
Keeping a safe distance away from the bear.
Make loud noises by clapping hands or shouting "hey bear'"
Stay calm by staying still or slowly backing away from the bear, do not run from the bear. 

Please report any bear sightings in the park to park staff at the visitor center.

Facilities for rent

In addition to campsites, you can reserve the following facilities at this park:

Auditorium

The auditorium accommodates up to 75 people. It has tables, chairs, and a complete A/V system. Reservations are required. Please call the park for more information. 

Classroom

The classroom accommodates up to 40 people. It has tables, chairs, and sink. Reservations are required. Please call the park for more information.

Picnic Shelters

Two picnic shelters at Gorges State Park are affordable and ideal for large group outings. They each accommodate 100 people, and have fireplace, grill, electricity, water and restrooms.

Unreserved picnic shelters are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure availability, the White Pines picnic shelter can be reserved in advance for a fee.
