Fort Fisher State Recreation Area offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful. ​

Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.

 

Join park staff for a presentation about sea turtles. We will discuss what species we see here at Fort Fisher, basic biology, and what we do to help with conservation efforts. Please call 910-458-5798 to make reservations.

Come with your family to talk with an Ranger and learn the do's and don'ts of beach safety.  We will discuss rip currents- what they are, how they form, and what you can do to keep the swimmers in your family safe while you're at the beach.  We will also cover what to do if you are stung by a jellyfish or step on a stingray.  Please call 910-458-5798 to make reservations.

Come learn about what the surf zone is and find out what fun stuff can be found in that area.  We will start in the exhibit room and then go out to the beach to sample the surf zone.  Please dress accordingly (we will be getting wet).  Call the park office at 910-458-5798 to sign up.
