Come and join us in the classroom as we display, discuss, and identify most of the shells found commonly on the Fort Fisher beach. Then we will go out on the beach and test our ID skills. Please call 910-458-5798 to make reservations.
Events and Programs
Fort Fisher State Recreation Area offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.
Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.
Come celebrate the first day of 2018 with us!! Join park staff as we hike the basin trail through maritime forest, back dune, and salt marsh habitat. The trail is approximately two miles and will pass the historic World War II bunker. We will take many stops along the way to learn about all the plants and animals that call this area home! Don't forget to bring water, sunscreen, and bug spray. Call 910-458-5798 to make reservations.
