There's something for everyone

From fishing lessons to astronomy programs, from tree identification hikes to kite workshops, our parks offer a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration.

Interested in learning more about Hawks, Eagles, Falcons, Owls and Vultures? Well join us as we look at the difference between the beaks, talons and wings of these beautiful birds! We will meet in front of the park office for this event.

Have you ever been on a hike and expected to see an animal, but did not?  Come learn what animals live around the Falls Lake Area.  Learn what signs to look for to let you know an animal has been around.  You may not see an animal on your hike, but after this program you will know they have been about.

With Thanksgiving behind us, and Christmas fast approaching, winter will soon be here as well. Join a park ranger for a 1.5 mile walk to observe and talk about changes with the plants, the animals, and other parts of nature as we transition seasons.

Join a Park Ranger in the auditorium of the Visitor Center to discuss the history of the area Lake Norman encompasses and the building of Lake Norman. The discussion will also include history of Lake Norman State Park. For more information, please call 704-528-6350.

100 miles … can you do it? Many park visitors are trying to do just that; hike 100 miles in 2017 to celebrate the centennial of the parks system in North Carolina. Meet Ranger Kevin Bischof as he leads a hike in late Fall to study the leaves after they have fallen for the year.
