Join us at Jockey's Ridge for our Island Critters educational program

Join Ranger Wood to look at some examples of the different mammals that live in the forest around Rendezvous Mountain. Individuals will be able to look at a variety of taxidermy, tanned skins, and animal skulls.

Are you a mycology enthusiast? Meet local naturalist, Ken Crouse, at 9:30am to learn about and forage for mushrooms found here at Rendezvous Mountain. The program is scheduled to last until 11:30am, so feel free to bring lunch and picnic afterwards!

If you enjoy learning about local history, then we have the thing for you! Take a short, yet somewhat steep, walk with Ranger Matheson to check out the fire tower and the Civilian Conservation Corps cabin here in the park.

Join a Ranger to learn about the superpowers of the endangered Green Salamander, a species native to Gorges State Park. Meet at White Pines Picnic Shelter at 10am.
Hike with a Ranger! Join us for a short 0.4-mile round trip hike to one of our park's waterfalls. We will learn about the formation of waterfalls and the two primary types. Please bring proper footwear and water. Meet at Bearwallow Picnic Shelter at 10am.
Join us at Carvers Creek State Park for a canoe lesson followed by a paddle on the swamp.
