Fews Ford at Eno River State Park
PEA CREEK TRAIL CLOSED

The Pea Creek Trail (trailhead located at the Cole Mill access) is closed until further notice. Due to recent storms, erosion has undercut steps, put deep holes into the trail, and significantly damaged the trail. Do Not Enter From Any Access.

Current status of facilities at Eno River State Park

Tent campsites are open for reservations as of May 22, with the exception of group campsites, which remain closed.

Fews Ford and Cole Mill accesses are operating under normal hours. Trails and restrooms are open. The restrooms close regularly throughout the day for cleaning and sanitizing: entry will be prohibited during this time.

The picnic shelters are closed to promote social distancing.  All water fountains and hydrants are off: please be prepared and bring filled, reusable water bottles.

Cabelands and Pleasant Green accesses are CLOSED at this time. Parking outside the gates and along the road is not permitted. You may not park on the road shoulder, block gates, or impede traffic and walk into the park from these accesses. Your vehicle will be subject to citation and or towing. Swimming is not permitted at the Eno Quarry at this time.

Visitors should make their visits brief and focus on moving through the park without stopping any place where multiple people may be in one area.  This is not the time to “hang out” at the park.

Camping

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT AMENITIES:

Not all campsites have identical amenities. Read the campsite information on the reservations website to see photos of campsites; check availability and fees; find out whether a specific site is wheelchair accessible, has access to water, bathouses or pit toilets, or has electric hookup; and learn other important information.

Find solitude and peace among tall trees and a symphony of forest creatures camping at Eno River State Park. The park has backcountry camping available to families, individuals and groups at the Fews Ford and Cole Mill accesses. All sites require hiking in and supplies must be carried in. There is no potable water source at the sites.

Backpack camping

At Fews Ford Access, follow a secondary trail off the Fanny's Ford Trail to reach the Fanny's Ford Campground, 1 mile from the parking lot. There are five sites on a hill a short distance from the river.

At Cole Mill Access follow the Bobbitt Hole Trail to the Piper Creek Campground about 1.2 miles from the parking lot. Five sites are near Piper Creek and a short walk to the river. Each site has a pad for tents, fire ring, lantern hook and bench. A pit toilet serves each campground.

Group camping

The Cox Mountain Group Camp is a short distance from the Cox Mountain Trail and the suspension bridge across the river and is set on a wooded ridge near the river. The hike is 3/8 mile from the parking lot. Maximum accommodation is 26 people.

The Buckquarter Creek Group Camp has two sites near the junction of Buckquarter and Martin Cabin creeks, just off the Ridge Trail. The hike is 1.2 miles from the parking lot. Each site accommodates a maximum of 15 people.

All group sites have tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings with benches and a pit toilet. All tents must fit on the pads. Reservations are required.

NOTE – Gate access for campers:

Park gates are closed and locked at posted closing times for your protection. There will be no exiting or entering the gates after the closing time. All visitors who are not spending the night need to be out by closing time. If you leave the park and do not return before closing time, you will not be able to re-enter. Check with the park office during office hours for the after-hours emergency phone number.
