The Discovery Trail at Lake James State Park

Education in the Parks

Nature's classroom

The North Carolina state park system offers a wide range of educational opportunities and resources. Our Interpretation and Education (I&E) programs engage people in hands-on experiences that promote appreciation and understanding of our state's great cultural and natural resources. Kids can participate in field trips and the Junior Ranger program. Visitors of all ages can enjoy park museums and exhibits, discovery centers, or historic sites. Use the search below to find parks with a particular historic or cultural significance.

Educators will find information about teacher workshops, curriculum guides, and outreach programs.

You can also browse through a park's website or check the Events Calendar to find events by park or date. There's something for everyone!
