Take a break from the heat with an indoor talk about some of the critters that give many the creeps but are actually quite fascinating! Learn about snakes and spiders. Since spiders are the stars of 2017, there will be a bandanna give-away. Afterward, there will be an optional craft activity for younger children to make and take home. Please pre-register by calling the office to help us plan for supplies.
Events and Programs
Dismal Swamp State Park offers a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. Typically led by park rangers, these interpretive programs allow the public to gain perspective into what makes North Carolina state parks naturally wonderful.
Most of the events are free, though some require pre-registration. All give park visitors deeper insight into the natural world. Call the park office for more information.
Join us for sun-themed solar eclipse viewing party! Special viewing glasses will be available to allow you to safely experience this rare event. We'll have crafts and activities set up as well, so bring the kids along. You can stop by anytime between 1-4 pm and stay as long as you like. We do, however, request that you call the office and let us know how many people are in your group so that we can plan accordingly for supplies.
Join the ranger for a guided storywalk around the Boardwalk to celebrate Grandparents' Day!
