Chimney Rock Access Closed Wednesdays and Thursdays

Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park will be closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays through March 11.

 Posted on: Wednesday, February 21, 2018 - 1:00pm
Elevator Out of Service Until Further Notice

Completion of the elevator repair project was affected by the October 23 landslide, so the elevator will be out of service until further notice. These issues are being addressed by engineers and other specialists so that service can be safely restored to the public. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Please note that visitors can still access the top of Chimney Rock by climbing the staircases of the Outcroppings Trail. This 0.2-mile trail leads hikers through a rugged boulder field with dramatic views of Lake Lure, Hickory Nut Gorge, and Chimney Rock itself.

At the end of the program, each participant will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty when they take home a tree seed to plant. This program is free and geared for children.
