Chestnut Knob Fire Volunteer Workday

South Mountains State Park

Do you want to help with clean-up efforts following the Chestnut Knob fire? Here's your chance! Join a ranger for a few hours and help with restoring the old Chestnut Knob trail back to a natural state now that we've built a new one! This special project will include dragging brush to conceal the old trail, rolling rocks and moving dirt and trees to keep people from hiking the wrong trail by accident. Please come prepared to get dirty. Bring gloves if you have them.

All ages are welcome, but please contact the park to register! 828-433-4772
