Job description

Enjoy views of the Cape Fear River and working with friendly campers? Carolina Beach State Park is seeking to hire a seasonal General Utility Worker. This position allows for up to 40 hours per week. Applicant must be flexible with hours of work and willing to work weekends, nights, and/or holidays.

The pay is $12 per hour.

This is a temporary seasonal position. The work schedule will be mostly day shift with some evening shifts required. This position's main duties will be facility and grounds maintenance and upkeep, including but not limited to the following: cleaning bathrooms and showers; emptying trash cans and trash pick-up; cleaning campsites; mowing and trimming grass; trail maintenance and repair; participating in invasive species control and eradication; assisting other park staff in park maintenance and operation; and assisting in marina operation.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation to and from work.

Applicants should be in good physical condition, able to walk up to 6 miles of trails a day, and the ability to perform physical work in 90-degree-plus heat. This position requires good communication skills and good interpersonal skills. They must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions and be able to work independently, as well as part of a team. They must possess the necessary computer skills required for recordkeeping and time entry. This position also requires a willingness to learn new skills and knowledge of the natural history of the park and the surrounding area.
