Due to recent heavy rains in the area, several trail sections are experiencing soggy, wet or flooded conditions. Check in with park staff at the visitor center or marina store upon arrival to learn which trails are the driest. Areas along State Park Road may also have water standing on the roadway, especially during heavy rain events. Please drive carefully and slowly through any standing water on roadways.Posted on: Monday, August 13, 2018
There are no entrance fees to enjoy the park. In addition to park-specific rules, please read the systemwide Park Rules for all North Carolina State Parks.
Swimming is prohibited throughout the park due to dangerous currents and sharp drop-offs existing near the shores.
Fishing: State fishing regulations are enforced. A North Carolina Coastal Recreational Fishing License is required to fish in the park.
Insect repellant is recommended in the warm months.
Bicycles are not allowed on any trail within the park. There is a town-maintained bike path just outside the park gate.
About campground gates: The front gate is closed and locked at posted closing times for your protection. There will be no exiting or entering the gate after the closing time. The combination will NOT be given out. All visitors who are not spending the night need to be out by closing time. If you leave the park and do not return before closing time, you will not be able to re-enter. Please notify camp hosts for emergencies only.
