There are no entrance fees to enjoy the park. In addition to park-specific rules, please read the systemwide Park Rules for all North Carolina State Parks.

Swimming is prohibited throughout the park due to dangerous currents and sharp drop-offs existing near the shores.

Fishing: State fishing regulations are enforced. A North Carolina Coastal Recreational Fishing License is required to fish in the park.

Insect repellant is recommended in the warm months.

Bicycles are not allowed on any trail within the park. There is a town-maintained bike path just outside the park gate.

About campground gates: The front gate is closed and locked at posted closing times for your protection. There will be no exiting or entering the gate after the closing time. The combination will NOT be given out. All visitors who are not spending the night need to be out by closing time. If you leave the park and do not return before closing time, you will not be able to re-enter. Please notify camp hosts for emergencies only.

CAMPING. Please check the reservations website for campsite features and prices. Reservations are strongly advised. Any unreserved sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

MARINA. Transient slip reservations, long-term lease renewals and remote payments can be made online or by calling 1-877-722-6762.

Transient slips are rented on a first-come basis (no longer than 14 days in any 30-day period).  Applications are required for long-term dockage. The marina store and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

Boat launching fee : $7

Slip rental and marina fees (Only available at Carolina Beach)

  • Transient, overnight dockage (no longer than 14 days in any 30-day period)
    • Summer season (April 1 to October 31): $36
    • Winter season (November 1 to March 31): $30
  • Holding tank pump out: $20
  • Battery charge service: $20

Slip rental — one-month lease (fees charged according to term of lease and vessel size):

  • 25 feet or smaller: $294
  • 26 feet to 30 feet: $344
  • 31 feet to 35 feet: $394
  • 36 feet to 40 feet: $444

Six-month lease (runs 183 days from date executed):

  • 25 feet and smaller: $1534
  • 26 feet to 30 feet: $1834
  • 31 feet to 35 feet: $2134
  • 36 feet to 40 feet: $2434

12-month lease (runs 365 days from date executed):

  • 25 feet and smaller: $2834
  • 26 feet to 30 feet: $3434
  • 31 feet to 35 feet: $3934
  • 36 feet to 40 feet: $4534

Refund Proration Policy:  In accordance with the terms of the Slip Rental Agreement, either party may terminate this agreement at any time by providing 30-day written notice. Refunds will not be given unless the tenant provides 30-day written notice of early termination to CABE and CABE secures another tenant for the slip within the 30-day period. Refunds will be prorated at a daily rate for days remaining on the Slip Rental Agreement. This policy will take effect on the date CABE receives written notice of termination from tenant(s).


Event permits. Some events—such as weddings, athletic contests, company parties, etc. — may require a Special Activity Permit. If you're unsure whether such a permit is necessary for your event, call the park office beforehand. You can download a Special Activity Permit application or obtain one from the park office.

Research and collection permits. A permit is required for any project involving the collection, removal or disturbance of any natural or cultural resource of any state park unit and for projects that require placing monitoring equipment in any state park unit.
