Description

Cliffs of the Neuse State Park camp hosts may serve for two months or 60 days at one time.

This term limit exists to provide the opportunity for different people to serve in this volunteer capacity. While serving as camp hosts, volunteers will stay free of charge for the one site they occupy. The host may be an individual, a couple, or family that has a fully enclose recreational vehicle (5th wheel, tag-along, pop-up, etc.)

While one camp host entity is on-site, no other camp hosts will be permitted on-site or to stay free of charge.

General duties

During the campground host's stay, they will be responsible for:

  • assisting staff by posting reservation tags
  • issuing on-site camping permits
  • selling firewood and ice
  • cleaning the family campground bathhouse
  • providing basic information to the public

Contact with campers will be made by occasional walks of the camping area, by issuing camping permits, and by being available on the host campsite. To ensure contact with the majority of the park's campers, hosts will be required to work weekends, holidays, and evening hours, with two days off per week. The work schedule is flexible and will be coordinated with Ranger Autumn Hamm or another employee.
