The NC Science Festival is a 2-week long celebration of the educational, cultural, and financial impact of science in North Carolina. Our goal is to connect with folks from all walks of life - Fostering a sense of community through exciting events that are fun, educational, and inspiring for future generations.

Learn about Kelvin the Spokesbot, who is the offical mascot of the NC Science Festival.

Join us for several opportunities to participate in special programming for this year's Festival!  

 

First Day Hikes

Celebrate the New Year with a hike that will cover  a portion of the Goose Creek, Flatty Creek and Ivy Gut Trails walking approximately two miles.

Be among the first to climb Jockey's Ridge in 2018. We'll hike out from the visitor center, enjoy the view, and then return. The entire route will be a round trip of approximately one mile. Come prepared to walk sandy areas and be outdoors for an hour.

Start the new year off with a hike in your favorite state park. Fort Macon will be offering two ranger led hikes this year, both starting from the Visitor Center at 2 p.m. One will be a short ¾-mile nature hike on the Yarrow’s Loop Trail and inlet beach. The second hike will be along the 3.2-mile Elliott Coues Trail.
