Camping

Facility: Tent and Trailer Campground. 28 drive-to campsites for tents and a limited number of sites for small recreational vehicles. There are no electrical/water hookups. Each campsite has a picnic table and grill.
Location: Crabtree entrance (Hwy 70).
Accommodates: Two tents, two vehicles and up to six people per campsite.
Nearby Amenities: Drinking water and restrooms with showers.
Available: March 15 to December 15.
Reservations Required: Reservations are strongly advised. Any unreserved sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Accessible: No.

Facility: Primitive youth tent campground with two picnic tables, pit toilets, fire ring and running water. Available to organizations and nonprofit groups.
Location: Sycamore Road.
Accommodates: Up to 25 people.
Nearby Amenities: None.
Available: Year-round.
Reservations Required: Yes.
Accessible: No.

Facility: Group Cabins (Camp Crabtree and Camp Lapihio). Each camp includes a mess hall, dining area and washhouses. Available to organizations and nonprofit groups.
Location: Group Camp Road.
Accommodates: Camp Crabtree, 64 people. Camp Lapihio, 120 people.

Available: April 1 through October 31.
Reservations Required: Yes.
Accessible: The mess hall and washhouse at Camp Lapihio are accessible.

Facility: Group Lodge (Maple Hill). Facility includes fireplace, drinking water, picnic tables, fire ring and restrooms. Available to organizations and nonprofit groups. The lodge is a historic landmark built in the 1930s. The lodge is an open room with no furniture. Campers must bring their own sleeping bags. Available to organizations and nonprofit groups.
Location: Sycamore Road.
Accommodates: Up to 25 people.

William B. Umstead has drive-to camping only. In some cases, the fee structure below gives fees for more than one type of facility if the fees are the same. Please refer to the facility description above for an accurate description of the available facilities.

Primitive Group Camping

Unimproved campsites with pit privies (composting or vault toilets, etc.) --- Per day $13 minimum. $2 additional per day for every person over the minimum number of campers.
