Welcome to HARP! Officially known has the Haw River Program, we are an outdoor science school that specializes in overnight field trips for groups of all ages. All HARP courses and activities are designed to meet or exceed state and national standards for curriculum. Our courses are flexible and can be tailored to meet specific needs of teachers.
HARP is located in the piedmont of North Carolina at beautiful Haw River State Park in Brown Summit, North Carolina. We are proud to be the first ever residential environmental education program in NC State Park history!
Our mission statement, written in 2001, remains the same: HARP is an environmental education program committed to immersing students in an engaging, informative, entertaining, and inspiring curriculum that nurtures a lifelong respect for the relationships within our natural environment.
