Bear Island ferry service operates in October Friday through Sunday, hourly at the bottom of the hour from the mainland beginning at 9:30 am, and at the top of the hour from Bear Island with the last ferry leaving the island at 5:00 pm. The last day of ferry service for the 2014 season will be Sunday, October 26, 2014. Lifeguards will not be on duty for the remainder of ferry season and the concession stand will be closed for the season as well. PLEASE bring any soft drinks and snacks with you to the island. Indoor showers on Bear Island are open to campers from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. each day, and drinking water, outdoor showers and restroom facilities are open daily through November 16, 2014. PLEASE use extreme caution in the water and be aware that dangerous rip currents can occur at any time. Contact the park office at firstname.lastname@example.org or 910.326.4881 with questions.
