Memorial Day through Labor Day Ferry Service to Bear Island operates hourly Monday and Tuesday and every 1/2 hour Wednesday through Sunday, beginning at 9:30 am and the last ferry off of Bear Island is at 6:00. Lifeguards will be on duty in the protected swim area and the concession stand will be open with drinks and snacks for sale, cash only. Indoor showers on Bear Island will be open to campers from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. each day, and drinking water, outdoor showers and restroom facilities are open daily. Pets, Carts and Wagons are not permitted on the Ferry. Contact the park office at hammocks.beach@ncparks.gov or 910.326.4881 with questions.
Note: Representatives from Camp Lejeune are conducting a search for munitions-related items near Bear Inlet and Saunders Creek in the Intracoastal Waterway that began March 4, 2013 with the anticipated completion of the investigation in June 2013. Unimproved campsites with pit privies (composting or vault toilets, etc.) --- Per day $13 minimum. $2 additional per day for every person over the minimum number of campers.
A $25 fee will be charged for all returned checks.
