All Parks along I-95 and east will close at noon on Friday, 9/5. Fort Macon, Lake Waccamaw, Jordan Lake, Jones Lake and Raven Rock will reopen at 2 p.m. on Saturday, 9/6. Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher are scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. Sunday, 9/7.

• Facility: Hammocks Beach ferry. The brief ferry ride takes visitors from the mainland section of the park in Swansboro to Bear Island.
• Location: Swansboro.
• Accommodates: 28 people.
• Nearby Amenities: n/a.
• Available: April through October.
• Reservations Required: No.
• Accessible: Yes.

Facility Description(s)

• Facility: Fourteen Primitive / backpack campsites.
• Location: Bear Island.
• Accommodates: Six people, two tents on each site.
• Nearby Amenities: Bathhouse with restrooms, water and cld outdoor showers, located centrally on the island, except from mid-November through mid-March when the facilities are winterized.
• Available: Year-round except for December 24th and 25th.
• Reservations Required: No. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Campers must register at the park office on the mainland before going to Bear Island.
• Accessible: No.

• Accommodates: Twelve people, four tents on each site.
• Nearby Amenities: Bathhouse with restrooms, water and cld outdoor showers, located centrally on the island, except from mid-November through mid-March when the facilities are winterized.
• Available: Year-round except for December 24th and 25th.
• Reservations Required: Yes. Reservations and prepayment must be made. Contact the park office for forms and information.
• Accessible: No.
