Federal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF)  »  Grant Timeline and Details

At this time the level of funding available in the federal LWCF has not been determined. If adequate 2016 LWCF funds are made available to North Carolina, unfunded local government PARTF applicants will be considered, if eligible, for these LWCF funds. Pertinent information regarding this process and eligibility requirements can be found on pages 3, 7 and 8 of the PARTF application.

There are some differences between the LWCF and PARTF programs. The following PARTF applications would not be eligible under LWCF:

  1. Indoor recreational facilities;
  2. Projects on leased land;
  3. Projects proposing the acquisition of park land without prior approval of the National Park Service (i.e., NPS waiver); and
  4. Appraisals and legal fees for land acquisition projects

For PARTF applications recommended for LWCF funding consideration, additional federal grant requirements would also have to be satisfied prior to receiving a LWCF contract. For example, the local applicant will be required to provide any additional environmental information to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
