Local government applicants can request a maximum grant of $250,000 with each application. There is no maximum grant limit set for state agency applications, except as set by amount available for the state agencies' share of the state's LWCF apportionment.
All grants awarded must be matched dollar-for-dollar by the applicant with cash, appraised value of donated property or in-kind services. An applicant may contribute more than a dollar-for-dollar match for grant funds.
LWCF monies will be disbursed on a reimbursement basis after proof of acquisition is submitted to the state or as costs are incurred in development of a facility. The applicant is expected to finance 100 percent of the project. Fifty percent of the eligible expenditures, up to the amount of the grant, will be refunded either during the project period as biennial requests for reimbursement are submitted or when the project is completed. All costs must be incurred within a three year period (two years on acquisition-only projects) beginning from the starting date on the grant agreement.
